Hello! Thank you so much for stepping up to volunteer to sign up voters to qualify the initiative. Your activism will mean Oregonians will have superior schools, good roads, high-end services AND pay lower taxes.
When you go out to petition:
- Wear comfortable clothes;
- Have water and snacks;
- Sunscreen;
- A clipboard (or more than one if possible because sometimes you will be in a crowd);
- At least two pens (because someone might walk away with a pen while you are talking to a voter).
Please follow these easy directions for the petition sheet:
- You MUST download and copy back-to-back/double-sided the ten-line petition sheet AND the instruction sheet contained in the downloadable file. If the instruction sheet is not copied on the back of the petition sheet, all those signatures will be invalid.
- The printed petition sheet and instruction sheet must be on 20lb, 8 1/2” x 11” uncoated white paper.
- You must also “attach” a copy of the text of the initiative to the petition sheet. “Attach” can mean using a paper clip—so once a sheet is filled, you can, then, move the initiative language to be clipped to a new petition sheet. If you are using multiple clipboards, each clipboard should have its own copy of the full text of the initiative.
- Sometimes a voter asks: this information is confidential, submitted only to the Secretary of State, we don’t even collect the information.

- We also include a one-page “talking points” to help with your pitch.
- At the end of your petitioning shift, fill out all the “circulator” information at the bottom of the sheet. DO NOT FILL IN THE “Sheet Number”; the campaign fills those out at our central headquarters.
- To return the completed petitions:
- Text/call your campaign contract or send an email to theteam@taxtheverywealthy.com to see if there is a drop-off time and/or a meeting place; OR…
- Mail the petition sheet(s) to: The Very Rich Pay Their Fair Share, POBox 11094, Portland, Oregon 97211 AND send us an email to let us know it’s in the mail.
